Area 291 made a successful launch on March 3, 2026. It immediately made it to #4 on Amazon! I was so proud because while this story is fiction, there is a lot of documented true activities behind this story. My favorite quote to people is: Question Everything! I do this in my life and has done me well. I hope you read it because it will open your eyes!

As a writer, it is important to take care of yourself. Having the loneliest job in the world doesn't exactly scream healthy habit; it's up to you to make it happen.

I've recently gone through a trial to end all trials. I lapsed into a coma one night, sitting at my keyboard. My son found me and called the paramedics. I went to the hospital having a 105 fever and was completely unconscious, not even responding to pain. A smart-thinking doctor who was in the ER looked me over and found I had a crushing infection throughout my body. I had flesh-eating bacteria. It was in my heel.

I developed a little pain in my heel two weeks before I got sick. It felt like a bone spur. This happened to me a few years ago, and the pain felt the same. I went to my doctor, and she spotted nothing wrong. Two days later, I was in a coma.

After three months, I'm home now. My kingdom consists of the basement, which I made handicapped accessible. I have six stairs outside I need to navigate to be a part of the outside world again. My daughter gets married in a month, and I need this month to achieve this goal.

What could I have done differently? I spent the past three months trying to figure out the answer to that question. Perhaps being more persistent would have helped. Maybe increased activity would have eliminated the problem entirely. Because of a knee injury, I was having trouble before this happened.

If you have a chronic disease, you must stay on top of it. Being a diabetic since I was a kid, I know how to take care of myself. Exercise is the cornerstone of good health. My diabetes is well controlled. I suggest starting with easy exercises, such as chair yoga. If you use assistive devices like me, use a walker and try tai chi, which is what I'm now doing. Any movement at all helps.

My latest release happened on the day I woke up from my coma. This is not how I planned on making a kickoff campaign. When you have health, you'll be there for campaign kick offs and write more books!

Don't forget that taking care of yourself is the #1 thing you can do for yourself!

AREA 291

Radiation burns lead MUFON investigators Dr. Rachel Katz and Adam Reid to Area 291, the forbidden scar off Malibu. With Woods Hole biologist Dr. Jasper, they dive a trench that shouldn’t exist—and wake something that refuses to stay buried. Overnight, markets crater, viruses spread, streets riot. Leaks expose a pact: governments and the Vatican traded a slice of humanity for alien weapons. Hunted above and stalked below, the three must return to the abyss before the harvest begins in full. The ocean keeps its secrets—and its debts.

Writing as a Journey of Discovery

Blog post.

Writing as a Journey of Discovery

Every time I sit down to write, I’m reminded that stories don’t always come to us fully formed. They unravel like a path through the woods—sometimes clear, sometimes foggy, and sometimes leading somewhere I never expected. That’s part of the magic. Sometimes an idea pops in my head I can't get the words on the paper fast enough. Then there are times I really have to claw my words out, but eventually the light goes on in my head and the magic happens.

As writers, we often think we’re the ones creating the world, shaping the characters, and deciding their fates. But the characters surprise us. They resist. They reveal truths we didn’t know we were carrying. Writing becomes less about control and more about listening—listening to the voices of our creations and the deeper parts of ourselves. Sometimes I have literally changed the ending of one of my books. I got to know my characters so well that when I was getting to the end, I thought, "They would never do that!" and I changed the ending.

There are days when the words flow like water, and others when every sentence feels like pulling teeth. But even on the hard days, there’s value. Struggle teaches us patience; blank pages remind us that silence, too, can hold possibility. Each challenge, each hesitation, each rewrite is part of the greater rhythm of becoming a writer. I think of my blank pages like a painter thinks of his canvas. As each chapter ends, I imagine adding blotches of paint to my canvas. My beautiful painting will be finished when I finish the book.

Looking back at my own projects, I see how much they’ve shaped me as much as I shaped them. Stories like Awake or Spirals aren’t just fiction—they’re fragments of memory, imagination, and questions about who we are and what it means to dream. They’re a mirror reflecting not only my character but also myself. When I wrote Awake, that was one book I couldn't get the words on the paper fast enough. My brain was really on a roll. I sometimes think about the decisions I made in my life. Haven't you ever wondered what your life would be like if you had married your high school sweetheart instead of going to college? I put those energies out into the universe. Have you ever wondered where your dreams and unkept plans go? My Awake series is where dreams go to live.

So if you’re writing today, remember this: your journey is valid, whether you wrote a thousand words or struggled with a single paragraph. Every step is part of the process. Writing isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence, discovery, and the courage to keep going. Inside every person is a story that is waiting to be told, and only you can tell it.

And maybe, just maybe, the words we write aren’t simply stories. Maybe they’re seeds, waiting to bloom in someone else’s imagination. 🌱✨

Blog post.

Hello, writer. Yes, you—the one staring at the blinking cursor, wondering if your story matters. I want to tell you something from one writer to another:

It does.

You do.

And the world needs your words more than you think.

When I first started writing, I was overwhelmed by doubts. What if no one reads this? What if it's terrible? What if I’m just wasting my time?

But here's what I learned—and what I hope you'll hold close as you start your own writing journey:

1. You Don’t Need Permission to Begin

You don’t need an MFA, a publishing deal, or a thousand followers to call yourself a writer. If you’re writing, you are a writer. Start messy. Start scared. Just start. As soon as you are in front of your computer writing, you are the writer. The Expert. Believe it and fake it till you make it. And you will make it!

2. First Drafts Are Supposed to Be Ugly

Perfection is the enemy of progress. Give yourself the freedom to write badly. Trust me, the magic is in the rewriting, not the first draft.

3. Routine Beats Motivation

Motivation comes and goes—but a simple, sustainable routine will carry you through. Even 200 words a day adds up to a novel in less than a year. Show up, even when you don’t feel like it.

4. Your Voice Is Unique

There is no one else who can tell your story the way you can. Don’t compare your journey to others. Embrace your weird. Lean into your quirks. That’s where the gold is.

5. Publishing Is a Long Game

If you’re hoping to publish—self, indie, or traditional—remember it’s not a race. Keep learning, keep writing, and most importantly, keep believing. Some of my best story ideas came years after I wrote my first book. The important thing is keep writing! Don't stop with the first book. While not everyone will love your book, and that's ok. But a lot of people will like your book and they will want to read every word you've written. Don't disappoint your fans and only give them the taste of one book! While you are finishing up one book, you should have two more of them in your head. Before long, you will have such a well-developed catalog (your collection of books) readers will have a wide variety of reads and everyone is happy!

6. Write the Book You Want to Read

Not what’s trending. Not what someone says will sell. The stories that matter most are the ones that come from the heart. If it excites you, terrifies you, or makes you feel something big—chase it.

7. Write what you know

Your first book may not be the book of your dreams, and that's okay. Chalk it up to learning the publishing process. So, in the meantime, write about what you know. Your first book doesn't have to have the word count of War & Peace. It can simply be an article, a short story, fan fiction, a novella...so may different ways to write. Doing this will get you over the self-doubt and fear. I always tell people the first time you do something, it is always the hardest. After you write once, it get easier.

One Last Thing…

Writing is not just about creating books. It’s about discovering who you are, connecting with others, and leaving behind a piece of your soul on the page. And that’s a brave, beautiful thing.

So please, keep going. Keep writing. Keep dreaming.

The world is waiting to hear your story.

With all my support,

Jennifer Ahmed

Author of Awake, Spirals, Utopia, and more

Blog post.

Tonight I was talking to my coach, Lynn, and we were comparing how the writing environment has changed over the years. Writing is unlike any other forms of art out there. If you're a singer, actor, or artist, success brings expensive cars and palatial homes. Not so much the writer. With the inventions of Amazon, AI, and others, any rewards coming to writers get chipped away. There are many writers out there who make $0 or even $0.01 in royalties off each book sold. If you've never written a book, you will never know the heart-wrenching work that goes into making a book a reader will immerse themselves into for weeks at a time. Writing is the loneliest profession out there. Every writer writes different ways, but the thing that unites all writers is the time spent making the next best-seller. Another creed that unites all writers is we are not in it for the money. Most writers will sing for their supper without making enough royalties in a month to buy a Starbucks coffee. But it is a great conversation starter at parties!

I spend no less than 12 hours a day writing. Any other pursuits in my life take the backseat to writing. My keyboard is my canvas, microphone, and stage. Certainly, adding "The End" after a couple of hundred pages feels like a success. And it is for many. Being able to drive a Mercedes is another measurement. Here are some of my successes: the very first fan letter! I'll never forget that! Someone thinks of me! That was one of the greatest moments of my life! Public figures that don't enjoy their audience have no business being in the business. My second success is when my first book made it to #1 on Amazon. For writers, even that achievement is diminished. Amazon changes their numbers every hour. If the writer is lucky, they will have the joy of seeing that little orange banner on their site and can take a picture before it disappears. Today, another milestone happened to me. The news of my release of Utopia was released by BookLife, part of Publisher's Weekly. For those who don't know, Publisher's Weekly is the Promised Land for writers.

Is this article sounding a bit negative? No. It just shows the hard work writers put into their craft. There is positive news for beginning writers! You just have to keep punching through and you will have success. The 'punching through' is different for each writer. Unless you write a best-selling diet book, don't count on making a million dollars off your prose at the beginning of your career. But there will come a time... You'll see the writing process gets more refined and easier, but still lonely. So, if you wrote your first book, let me be the first to congratulate you! But what comes next? To achieve the level of success we all think of, continue to write, write, write. I'm talking one book after another. There is no "stopping." If you're not writing, you're not a writer.

On the heels of today's announcement of Utopia being published, I have another announcement for tomorrow, and that is my next book. One good announcement always has to be followed up by even a better one. A writer is only as good as their last book. Writers have to have thick skin. Negative reviews are gut punches and we only have ourselves to blame. Actors can blame the script or cast and singers can blame their producers. Writers don't have that luxury. Suck it up buttercup, write another book, then another...repeat. You'll have the last laugh in the end. Keep adding to that catalog of books and soon you'll be associated with that lovely three-word title: best-selling author!

Blog post.

I love getting email! Also, I could talk about writing forever! Yesterday I received an email from a beginning writer seeking advice. Many writers would hit the delete button, but not me. This brings me back to my nursing days. Mentoring a new nurse kept my skills sharp. Same goes for writing. Taking a new writer under my wing keeps my talents and excitement for writing sharp. So, what is my advice for new writers? Here is my top ten pointers for becoming a writer!

1. Like any other business, know all the negative things you will be getting into. Each writer experiences different negatives. I actually love sitting at my desk, with the Sirius playing, motivating me to write. This can be the loneliest job in the world because you are alone, at your desk. This can be a positive if you are your own best friend. The low pay is a negative, but the more your "catalog" (published books) grows, your income will also grow. Keep your expectations low. One book will not make you a millionaire. Maybe 10 bestsellers might, but keep expectations low and be surprised when the positives blossom in your career.

2. When you write a book, you will feel like you're standing naked in Times Square. From the first paragraph to the last paragraph, you expose the workings of your inner mind and bear it for the world to see. I find that terrifying! I don't want to hear someone tell me how bad my book is. I promise you, you will hear this, so be prepared to let a lot of things roll off your shoulder. Even the most famous writers get one star. If a proofreader or an editor makes a mistake and a few blunders, readers will blame you. One of my writer friends had a mixup with which file the publisher uploaded and the one that went out was the one with so many editorial changes and errors. She literally melted into a puddle. That has happened to me too. People will love you or they won't. Of course, you want everyone to love you, but if they don't, its not your fault. Don't give anyone space in your head.

3. Know yourself and work the way that works for you. This is probably the most important. My daughter tells me she thinks I'm a person with highly functioning ADHD. She may be right. My desk looks like it vomited papers everywhere. I have three desks in my office and there is no room for a pencil. But, I can tell you what every paper is and why its there. My personality thrives on stress. I work on my computer and I write two or three books at one time. I never have writer's block. I work on one project until I get bored or reach a place to stop, go on to the next project, then move on to the next, then end up back to the first. Turn your negatives into a positive. I know what works for me and I produce novels. I can also produce them quickly because I know how to adapt to do so.

4. Find where you get your inspiration and use it. It could be a thought, a person, something you see or read, or maybe you are one of the rare few who can churn out a novel without thinking about it. One thing I do when I'm writing a book is I like to find a truth to wrap my story in. For example, when I wrote By Dawn's Early Light, the protagonist in my story was a CIA black op site that was doing mind control experiments on children the agents adopted from orphanages in the middle of nowhere. That became a plot twist of a story that has not been disproven. It's online and is known as the Indian Lake Project. If you want to uncover an amazing story, Google Indian Lake Project Blog. I had so many facts in this book, it literally scared me when I was writing it at my desk at 4 am. My protagonist was detonating a nuclear bomb in the sewer under the New York Stock Exchange. It did rattle my core when someone was arrested in planning that exact plot. Life and books really come together. Expect the unexpected.

5. A very prolific writer I have the utmost respect for said write with a heart. She writes in my crazy genre too, but I know exactly what she was saying. In everyone of my books, my secret sauce is hope and love. Not everyone will have a happy ending, but give every character you invent the gift of hope. When the characters in your book are read by other people, they will pick up on your hope and it feels good. You want your reader to have a good feeling about how you treat your characters.

6. Learn from your characters. In every book, I have an outline from the beginning to the end. I will bet you $10 that by the time I am nearing the end, I hit the brakes. I'm thinking, "There is no way my character would do that!" When you have that experience, congratulations, you are now a writer. Putting yourself in listening to your characters will give your reader a positive experience with your story.

7. Surround yourself with people who have your back. Everyone needs someone in their corner. Writers are no different. This can be tricky because you don't want a yes person. The person who tells you that chapter was incredible is not someone looking out for you. I would rather someone tell me that chapter was a pile of stinking garbage. This ties back with #2. If your person told you it was crap, you would have never stood naked in Times Square. Have that one person who will always pop your balloon. For me, that person was my mother. She's gone now, but I could always count on her to knock me down a few pegs. It's only through these actions you become a better writer and a stronger, more confident writer.

8. Most importantly, have fun! Make your writing a pleasant and fun experience! When I get in my writing mode, when I am typing without thinking, I am having so much fun! I have fun with my characters! I just enjoy every single thing with writing! Your readers will know you are having fun by the quality of your writing. Every time I see how many pages I wrote. It's your baby! Enjoy it! Creating something from nothing is kind of a heady rush. Embrace it! You worked for it!

9. Remember you are a writer when you sit down and start producing. You are an accomplished writer when you finish your project. Own being a writer. Hold up your head and be proud to identify as a writer. I am so proud with my accomplishments. If you don't toot your own horn, no one else will do it. I've lost count the number of times I hear, "Wow! You're an author! I've written a few pages, but I just couldn't do it."

10. Be humble. This is worth repeating...be humble! All the time. You became a published author because people you don't know spent their hard earned money to buy something you wrote. They spent a week with you, maybe spending more time with other books. They let you entertain them. They brought you into their life and home. Be humble...

New Dystopian Thriller Explores the Harrowing Consequences of a Yellowstone Cataclysm.

January 20, 2025

Jenny Ahmed, a novelist recognized for her immersive dystopian and political thrillers, announces the upcoming publication of her newest work, Seismic Eruptions. Scheduled for release on February 5, this novel envisions the eruption of Yellowstone, a catastrophic event that threatens to upend civilization. In a genre often dominated by male voices, Ahmed continues to forge her own path by combining her vast medical background, deep love of writing, and dedication to service into stories that blend scientific plausibility with riveting plots.

Ahmed’s career began in the intensive care and emergency room settings, where she spent decades as a registered nurse. While caring for critical patients, she also pursued legal studies, gaining valuable insights into the corridors of power. At the same time, she explored her lifelong passion for writing, an interest that dates back to her childhood on a Southern farm. She recalls having few companions besides her three horses, so she filled her days by inventing stories and sharing them with her equine friends. As she matured, she brought her imagination into professional writing and copywriting roles, eventually parlaying her experiences into a sustained publishing career.

Over the years, Ahmed has excelled in multiple arenas. She has balanced the demanding pace of clinical work with an entrepreneurial spirit that led her to own a Jewish women’s publication, Women’s Weekly. There, she published regular columns on topics ranging from current affairs to community life. Despite her busy professional and family schedules, which include grown children and grandchildren, Ahmed never wavered in her desire to craft compelling novels. She attributes much of her creative focus to the influences she enjoyed during her youth. Her best friend was Penny, the daughter of esteemed science-fiction writer Piers Anthony, a fact that further fueled Ahmed’s passion for imaginative storytelling.

Ahmed’s most recently published novel before Seismic Eruptions is All the King’s Men, a political thriller and mystery that has garnered attention for its provocative storyline. The narrative begins with the shocking discovery of the Speaker of the House, Pearl Owens, hanging from a veranda in the House of Representatives. This act leads to the imprisonment of the fictional U.S. President, Cameron Walker, who faces serious accusations of corruption. Ahmed’s willingness to delve into complex political intrigue reflects her commitment to examining the darker edges of power, loyalty, and national identity. While she avoids providing detailed spoilers, she allows readers enough of a glimpse to understand that her fictional universe is rife with high-stakes conflict.

Having established herself as an author of intricate, suspenseful stories, Ahmed is eager to introduce Seismic Eruptions, which explores the scientific and social implications of a Yellowstone eruption. Drawing on her medical expertise, she envisions a world on the brink of environmental disaster, where communities struggle to adapt to the chaos around them. Her background in emergency and intensive care adds an authentic layer to her depiction of disaster response protocols, medical triage, and the emotional toll such events can take on both professionals and civilians. Ahmed’s deep understanding of anatomy, trauma, and crisis management enables her to create realistic scenarios.

In addition to her work in fiction, Ahmed is deeply involved in philanthropy. She and her husband founded a non-profit organization in New York City that operates food banks, senior centers, rent assistance programs, and other community services. Their organization is also opening a free medical clinic, named the L’Chaim Free Clinic, where Ahmed serves as the Medical Director. She continues pursuing a nurse practitioner program in parallel with her writing, believing that healthcare should be accessible to all. Despite coming from different faith traditions—Ahmed is Jewish, and her husband is Muslim—they have created an inclusive environment that welcomes people of every background. Catering to all communities and faiths, their non-profit aims to build a more harmonious social fabric within the metropolitan area and beyond.

Ahmed regards her community service as a vital principle aligned with Jewish values. She considers it essential to extend help to anyone facing difficult circumstances, regardless of their culture or religious heritage. This dedication to service has also become part of her broader network, as she and her husband coordinate with like-minded organizations to expand the range of assistance they can offer. Their non-profit is predominantly self-funded, reflecting their deep conviction in its mission.

Throughout her writing career, Ahmed has published seven books, with three more in active development. Her first publication, Tough Mama’s Guide to Survival ~ Survive and Thrive, once achieved the top rank on Amazon in the prepper genre. She attributes that success to her authenticity in writing about crisis situations and her unique perspective as a healthcare professional. She loves weaving stories in a way that illuminates large-scale global threats and intimate human challenges. Each new project allows her to incorporate the technical knowledge she gained from years of hands-on medical experience.

Seismic Eruptions will join Ahmed’s repertoire of novels on February 5. Readers can expect a suspenseful storyline that questions humanity’s capacity to survive a disaster of colossal proportions. Ahmed views this work as an attempt to remind society of the importance of resilience, responsibility, and unity when confronted with existential threats. She hopes that audiences will reflect on their preparedness for natural or human-made disasters through her portrayal of a Yellowstone eruption. While she maintains that it is purely a fictional narrative, she believes in the educational value of exploring how fragile modern life can be and how communities might come together in times of widespread emergency.

Next up for the prolific Ahmed is the novel Utopia, scheduled to be released on June 10. The book explores the intriguing story of the first colonists arriving on Mars.

For more information, visit www.jennyahmed.com.
